Theo van Doesburg was one of the founders of De Stijl a a Dutch artistic movement from around 1917. One thought among the group member was that "absolute harmony" can be manifested in pure geometrical forms. Doesburg's 1919 Archer seems to be a characteristic representative of those principles.
