Beautiful Luna moon goddess Hallé CC1171 Postcard

Postcard inspired by a mythology painting by English artist Charles Edward Hallé (1846–1914). The picture shows a beautiful young woman, a personification of the Roman moon goddess Luna. She's dressed in a thin black veil and holds a fan in her hands, apparently preventing the sun from rising. Behind her is a nightly sky with a narrow crescent moon. Charles Edward Hallé was younger than the Pre-Raphaelites, but stylistically he belonged with that group of artists. In 1888 he also founded a gallery together with Edward Burne-Jones.
